- THOU SHALT remove cling film after 2-3 hours. With clean hands, wash your tattoo gently with warm soapy water (preferably anti-bacterial). Pat it dry with a paper towel. If you can, soak in a bath for ten minutes; this will sting but helps to promote healing.
- THOU SHALT apply a thin layer of tattoo healing cream (we recommend Bepanthen Cream or Hustle Butter Deluxe) to the tattoo, do this as often as required (3-4 times daily usually). The idea is to keep the tattoo from drying out.
- For the first night before bed, THOU SHALT clean your tattoo as instructed, apply the cream and cover with cling film. This will stop it from sticking to bed clothes, preventing infection.
- After 4 days THOU SHALT use a moisturising lotion (E45 is what we recommend). Again use this as often as necessary.
- THOU SHALT ensure that you regularly clean your tattoo until it is healed, this is absolutely essential. It should take 10-14 days to heal.
- THOU SHALT NOT swim, soak in a hot tub or take a bath for 2 weeks after getting your tattoo. Chemicals like chlorine and the bacteria found in most lakes or the ocean will cause the tattoo to fade or may cause infection.
- THOU SHALT NOT tan for at least two weeks after. When your tattoo is fully healed you can expose it to sun or tanning beds. However this will fade your tattoo. It is advised to apply a strong SPF sun block to your tattoo to prevent it from fading.
- THOU SHALT NOT use fake tan while your tattoo is healing.
- THOU SHALT NOT scratch or pick it. Like any other wound to the skin, your tattoo will itch during the healing process. Scratching will remove the scab and possibly some of the colour. Slap the skin, not too hard, or rub lotion in to soothe the itch.
- THOU SHALT NOT KILL.
